The Irritable Bao

I can’t not stay away from The Irritable Bao and their delicious menu. On my most recent trip to The Irritable Bao I ordered the Cheeseburger Bao, the Chorizo, bacon, egg, and cheese egg roll, and the Spicy Korean Chicken buns. While waiting in line someone told me that I need to try the cheeseburger bao, but I was a little skeptical because I am a fan of the more traditional bass such as the pork and cabbage. However, I decided that it was worth a try and there’s not much for me to lose in doing so. The first bite revealed a beautiful pocket of ground beef with cheese covering every bit of it. I was nervous that only part of the bao would have had cheese, but no, every bite had the perfect ratio of savory beef, creamy cheese, and soft dough. I almost wish there were little bits of pickle inside too to give it a nice crunch and tang, but nonetheless it was a delicious bao. I have never gotten an egg roll at the Irritable Bao, but I keep my eye out for the coveted cookie dough egg roll. I always talk about the importance ratios of ingredients, and The Irritable Bao gets it right every time. The Chorizo, egg, bacon, and cheese were all balanced perfectly throughout the entire egg roll. The shell was crisp, crunchy, flavorful, and golden brown without being greasy and heavy. The egg roll held its shape and did not crumble. It came with a side of pepper jelly which had tons of bright flavors. Finally, I had the spicy Korean chicken buns. These buns were stuffed with a large piece of juicy, spicy chicken, radishes, cucumbers, and cilantro. Again, each bite had elements from each of the ingredients to give you consistently delicious bites of vibrant spice and crunchy radish. I was relieved that it came with two buns because I had loved the first one so much. The Irritable Bao has yet to make something that isn’t delicious. Every dish is loaded with flavor and is so different from the others that you can never get tired. From traditional baos to cookie dough egg rolls, The Irritable Bao has something for everyone.
